Aldie is where Loudoun's new subdivisions end and the horse country begins, and the driving reflects it. Route 50 narrows from a divided highway at Stone Ridge to a two-lane road through the historic village, with the Gilberts Corner roundabouts at Route 15 funneling quarry trucks, horse trailers, and weekend traffic bound for Middleburg. Homes in Willowsford, Lenah, and along Braddock Road sit on larger lots with long driveways, so cars are often parked outside under oaks or on gravel aprons that kick stone into the wheel wells. Most commuters head east on Route 50 toward Chantilly, Tysons, and Dulles, so a drop-off at our Walney Rd bay is on the way to work, about fifteen minutes door to door.
