RX PAINT PROTECTION FILM
The RX is the car most often dropped off at our Chantilly shop straight from a Lexus delivery, usually from the stores in Tysons or Chantilly, and the timing is right. The fifth-generation RX has a nose that is mostly spindle grille with a painted upper section that flows into the hood, and that painted section faces straight into the gravel on I-66 and the Toll Road. Lexus paint is good, but a chip in Caviar or Nori Green shows white, and a repaint on that blended nose is not cheap. Full front STEK film covers it and goes on in a day.
Below is where an RX takes damage in Northern Virginia, what each of our three packages means on this body, how we handle the sensors and the front camera, and which trims change the bumper. The hybrid and the gas car share the sheet metal; the F Sport bumper is the one that changes the pattern.

WHERE A RX TAKES DAMAGE
The painted spindle section
On the current RX the upper part of the spindle is body color and blends into the hood, so the grille itself leads the car into the wind. Stones strike that painted section and the hood edge above it first.
The hood and the fender creases
The RX hood is long and the fenders carry sharp creases that catch grit from the front tires. Chips sit along the hood edge and on the fender tops behind the lights.
Headlights and mirror caps
The RX headlights are long and slim and sit high at the corners where grit pits them. The mirror caps ride wide and chip at the leading edge. Both are included in full front.
Door cups and sills
An RX gets its door cups scratched by keys and rings, and the sills get scuffed by shoes. The extended package covers both, and on a Lexus those scratches are the first thing a dealer points at during trade-in.

SENSORS, CAMERA, AND RADAR
The RX carries the Lexus Safety System camera behind the windshield, the radar behind the emblem, parking sensors across the bumper, and a front camera in the grille on cars with the panoramic view monitor. Every window is cut out of the pattern. Nothing is filmed over a lens or the emblem.
F SPORT AND THE STANDARD BUMPER
The F Sport trims wear a mesh spindle and a different lower bumper with larger side openings, so they use their own pattern. The Premium and Luxury trims share the standard front. We confirm the trim before we cut.
DELIVERY-WEEK INSTALL
The Lexus stores in Tysons and Chantilly are a short drive from our bay, and most RX owners bring the car within the first week. New paint with no chips to hide is the best surface for film, and we have the pattern ready for the trim when you arrive.

LEXUS RX PPF QUESTIONS
No. The windshield camera is untouched, and the radar, the sensors, and the grille camera all have their windows cut out of the pattern before the film reaches the car. Adaptive cruise, pre-collision braking, and the panoramic monitor work the same after the install.
Yes. That painted section is part of the bumper piece and it is covered in every package. The mesh or slatted grille inside it is left open so airflow and the radar are untouched.
Yes, and leases are a common reason owners choose it. A chipped nose and scratched door cups are what the inspection flags at turn-in. The film keeps the paint factory fresh and comes off cleanly if the dealer prefers.
Full front is one day. Drop off at nine and pick up in the afternoon. The extended package or a ceramic coating over the film makes it two days.
Yes. White pearl hides chips better than Caviar or black, but the primer under a chip is gray and shows, and a pearl repaint is harder to match than a solid color. A good share of the RXs we film are white.
