LUCID AIR PAINT PROTECTION FILM

The Lucid Air has the lowest, widest nose of any sedan we film. The bumper sits inches off the road, the front light bar runs the full width of the nose, and the frunk lid is enormous and flat, which means the panel you see most is the one that catches the most. Add the deep metallics and pearls Lucid paints these in and a season of Toll Road commuting leaves a nose that looks older than the car.

Air owners tend to arrive within the first two weeks of delivery, which is the right time. This page covers where the Air takes damage, what partial, full front, and full front extended cover on this body, how the film is cut around the cameras and radar in the nose, which colors show the most, and the questions owners of a Pure, Touring, Grand Touring, or Sapphire ask before they book.

What we see in the bay

WHERE A AIR TAKES DAMAGE

A bumper at pebble height

The lower lip of the Air's bumper is close enough to the pavement that it collects whatever the car ahead throws, from road salt to gravel. It is the first panel on an unprotected Air to look tired.

The frunk lid

The lid is wide, low, and flat, and it runs almost to the base of the windshield. Stones that clear the bumper skip up onto it, and the chips sit exactly where you look when you walk up.

Fenders into the arches

The Air's fenders flare out to cover a wide track, and the arch lips take pickup from the front tires. The fender pieces run into the arch so the edge is hidden.

Mirrors and the light bar surround

The mirror housings are small and painted, and the painted trim around the light bar faces the airstream. Both are in the full front package.

Three packages

WHAT EACH PACKAGE COVERS ON THE AIR

Partial Front

High-impact zones only · Half a day

Bumper, the leading 18 inches of the frunk lid, the fender edges, and the mirrors. Because the lid is so wide and flat, the film line across it shows on everything but Stellar White, which is why most Air owners go further.

  • Full front bumper
  • Leading 18" of the hood
  • Leading edge of both fenders
  • Side mirrors
Most chosen

Full Front

What most drivers choose · One day

The full frunk lid as one piece, both fenders, the bumper, mirrors, the painted light bar trim, headlight lenses, and A-pillars. Edges wrap under the lid and into the arches. This is our recommendation for an Air that commutes.

  • Full hood
  • Full front bumper
  • Both full fenders
  • Side mirrors
  • Headlights
  • A-pillars

Full Front Extended

Front end plus the wear areas · One to two days

Adds rockers, door edges, and door cups. The Air's long doors and low sills make this worthwhile for street parking in Arlington or a tight garage.

  • Everything in Full Front
  • Rocker panels
  • Door edges and door cups
  • Door strips
  • A-pillars (halfway)

Pricing depends on the trim and the coverage you pick. What sets a PPF quote, or request yours and we reply the same business day.

CAMERAS AND RADAR STAY OPEN

The Air carries forward cameras and radar in the nose and windshield area, with more sensors depending on the DreamDrive package. Every window is cut out of the pattern. Nothing is filmed over, and DreamDrive features work as delivered.

LUCID COLORS

Zenith Red, Eureka Gold, and Fathom Blue are deep multi-layer colors that cannot be touched up invisibly from a code. Film is the only way to keep them perfect. Stellar White hides chips best but still shows the gray primer beneath.

EDGES ON A FLUSH BODY

The Air's panels sit flush with tight gaps, so the film has to end exactly on a panel edge or wrap under it. Our patterns are plotted for the Air and heat-set so no edge lifts at speed.

By trim

LUCID AIR TRIMS WE FILM

Air Pure

Same front end as the rest; full front is the usual choice.

Air Touring

Identical nose; most owners add a coating over the film.

Air Grand Touring

Shares the body; glass-roof cars still use the same front patterns.

Air Sapphire

Wider arches and a unique lower front; its own pattern set with the rockers commonly added.

BEFORE YOU BOOK

The 3-Step Prep Before PPF

A rare Mustang GT California Special goes through the prep every car gets before film: masking the trim, a paint enhancement pass, and the alcohol wipe that makes the film bond.

Can You Spot the PPF?

Two cars, both filmed. A proper install is wrapped under the hood edges and tucked into the bumper, so there is no line to find.

Questions

LUCID AIR PPF QUESTIONS

No. The camera and radar windows in the nose are cut out of the pattern before the film ever reaches the car, and the windshield camera is not touched. Lane keeping, adaptive cruise, and the parking cameras behave exactly as they did before the install.
