IX PAINT PROTECTION FILM

The iX is a different animal from the rest of the BMW lineup, and it needs a different approach to film. The grille is a closed panel full of sensors, the hood is not meant to be opened by the owner, and the body is a mix of painted metal and large unpainted plastic sections. The front still takes the same beating as anything else on the Dulles Toll Road, and the painted surfaces are the ones you pay to repair. Full front STEK film covers exactly those panels.

Below is what we see on iX owners' cars from Sterling and Fairfax, how the three packages land on this body, how we treat the sensor panel and the sealed hood, and what changed for the 2026 model year. If you have a delivery date, the best time to book is that same week, before the first stones on Route 28 find the bumper and the hood.

What we see in the bay

WHERE A IX TAKES DAMAGE

The painted bumper below the grille

Because the grille is a flat sensor panel, the painted lower bumper and the corners under the headlights take the stones instead. On a dark iX those chips show as light flecks from across a parking lot.

The low, wide hood

The iX hood slopes down to the panel, so grit that bounces off the Toll Road surface lands squarely on it. Owners cannot open it to check underneath, which is one more reason to film it.

Headlights in the wind

The slim headlights sit at the leading edge of the fenders and pit from sand and salt. Replacing a pitted iX light is costly; covering it is routine.

Door cups and the frameless doors

The iX has frameless door glass and deep door cups. Keys and rings mark the cups, and the door edges meet garage walls. Full front extended handles both.

Three packages

WHAT EACH PACKAGE COVERS ON THE IX

Partial Front

High-impact zones only · Half a day

Lower bumper and the corners, the leading 18 inches of the hood, the fender edges, and the mirrors. Covers the chip zone, but the hood line on an iX falls on a flat, visible part of the panel.

  • Full front bumper
  • Leading 18" of the hood
  • Leading edge of both fenders
  • Side mirrors
Most chosen

Full Front

What most drivers choose · One day

Full hood, both fenders, bumper, mirror caps, headlights, and A-pillars. The film ends at the grille panel edge, so the sensors are untouched. Our recommendation for any iX that leaves the garage every day.

  • Full hood
  • Full front bumper
  • Both full fenders
  • Side mirrors
  • Headlights
  • A-pillars

Full Front Extended

Front end plus the wear areas · One to two days

Adds the rockers, door edges, and door cups. On an iX the rockers sit under broad sills that passengers step over, and the extended package protects them.

  • Everything in Full Front
  • Rocker panels
  • Door edges and door cups
  • Door strips
  • A-pillars (halfway)

Pricing depends on the trim and the coverage you pick. What sets a PPF quote, or request yours and we reply the same business day.

THE SENSOR PANEL IS LEFT ALONE

BMW built the iX grille as a closed panel with the radar and camera hardware behind it and its own protective surface. We do not film over it. The bumper and hood patterns end precisely at its edge, so every driver-assistance function keeps a clear view.

A HOOD THAT DOES NOT OPEN FOR THE OWNER

The iX hood has no owner latch; the washer fluid fills through the roundel, and only a technician opens it. Our pattern wraps the leading edge where the panel gap allows and finishes the rest to the panel line, so the film still has no exposed edge facing the wind.

2026 UPDATE AND EARLIER CARS

The 2026 iX brought a revised front end and new model names. Those cars use a different pattern from a 2022 to 2025 iX, so we confirm the year and trim at booking and cut accordingly.

Questions

BMW IX PPF QUESTIONS

Yes, because we do not put film on it. The hood and bumper patterns stop at the panel edge, leaving the radar and cameras uncovered, and the panel keeps its factory surface. Every driver-assistance system works the same after the install as it did before.
