PILOT PAINT PROTECTION FILM
The Pilot is the most common family SUV in Fairfax County, and it lives the life that comes with that: I-66 and I-495 every weekday, a school lot twice a day, and a car wash on the weekend. The fourth-generation Pilot has a tall, upright nose with a flat hood that sits at pickup height, so the gravel from the trucks on Route 28 and Route 50 lands on top of it. Full front STEK film on a Pilot is a one-day install and covers the panels that take the hits.
This page covers where a Pilot picks up chips around Chantilly, what each of our three packages means on this body, how we handle the Honda Sensing camera and radar, and which trims change the bumper. The TrailSport has its own front end, so tell us the trim when you book.
What we see in the bay
WHERE A PILOT TAKES DAMAGE
A flat hood at truck height
The Pilot hood is long and nearly flat, and it catches what the truck ahead throws. Chips collect along the leading edge and across the front third of the panel, right where you see them walking up.
The grille surround and the bumper corners
The Pilot's grille is framed in painted bumper on most trims, and the corners lead the car into the wind. One winter of salt and cinders shows on a Crystal Black or Diffused Sky Blue Pilot.
Headlights and mirror caps
The headlights sit high at the corners and pit from grit on the highway, and the mirror caps chip because they are plastic with thin paint. Both are included in full front.
Door cups, sills, and three rows of kids
A Pilot's door cups get scratched by keys and rings every day, and the sills get scuffed by shoes climbing into the back. Those are the extended package.
Three packages
WHAT EACH PACKAGE COVERS ON THE PILOT

- Leading edge of both fenders
- Side mirrors
Full Front
What most drivers choose · One day
The whole hood as one piece, both fenders, the bumper, mirrors, headlights, and A-pillars, with the hood edge wrapped under the lip. The package we recommend for a Pilot that commutes on I-66 or I-495 every day.

- Both full fenders
- Side mirrors
- Headlights
- A-pillars
Full Front Extended

HONDA SENSING CAMERA AND RADAR
The Pilot carries the Honda Sensing camera behind the windshield and the radar in the lower grille, with parking sensors across the bumper on higher trims and a front camera on trims with the multi-view system. Every window is cut out of the pattern. Nothing is filmed over a lens.
TRAILSPORT AND THE STANDARD BUMPER
The TrailSport wears its own grille and a bumper with more unpainted lower cladding, so it uses its own pattern. The Sport, EX-L, Touring, and Elite share the standard front. We film painted surfaces only; textured cladding is left alone because it does not chip and does not take film.
DELIVERY-WEEK INSTALL
Honda dealers in Chantilly and Fairfax are a short drive from our bay, and most Pilot owners bring the car within the first week. New paint with no chips to hide is the best surface for film, and we have the pattern ready for the trim when you arrive.

Questions
HONDA PILOT PPF QUESTIONS
If the car commutes on I-66 or Route 28, yes. A Pilot spends more time behind trucks than most cars, and a chipped hood is the first thing a dealer prices at trade-in. Full front keeps the factory paint under it and the self-healing top coat takes the car-wash swirls.
No. The windshield camera is untouched, and the radar, the sensors, and the grille camera all have their windows cut out of the pattern before the film touches the car. Adaptive cruise, lane keeping, and collision mitigation work the same after the install.
Full front is one day. The extended package adds the rockers, four door edges, and four door cups on a long body and usually spills into a second morning. A ceramic coating over the film adds a day.
Touchless is fine any time after the first week. Brush washes are survivable because the top coat heals light marks in the sun, but a rinse or a hand wash is what keeps the film and the paint looking new longest.
Yes. Platinum White Pearl hides chips better than black or blue, but the primer under a chip is gray and shows, and a pearl repaint is hard to match. A good share of the Pilots we film are white.
