RANGE ROVER PAINT PROTECTION FILM

The current Range Rover has the flattest, tallest nose we film, and it is aimed straight at whatever the trucks on Route 28 and I-495 throw back. There is no slope to deflect a stone; the hood edge and the painted bumper take every hit head-on. The paint is expensive, the colors are deep, and the SV cars carry finishes that cannot be matched from a code. A chipped Range Rover nose is a repaint with blending, which is why full front STEK film is the standard first stop after delivery from the Land Rover dealers in Chantilly and Tysons.

This page covers where a Range Rover takes damage in Northern Virginia, what each of our three packages means on this body, how we handle the clamshell hood, the sensors, and the cameras, and which trims change the front. Standard and long wheelbase share the nose, so the trim and the year are what we ask for.

What we see in the bay

WHERE A RANGE ROVER TAKES DAMAGE

A vertical nose at truck height

The Range Rover's front face is nearly flat from the bumper to the hood edge. Stones hit it square instead of glancing off, and the chips sit in the painted bumper and the first foot of the hood.

The clamshell hood

The hood wraps over the sides of the car onto the fender tops, so it is a huge panel and it is visible from every angle. Chips along its leading edge show from the driveway.

Slim headlights and wide mirrors

The headlights are narrow and sit high at the corners where grit pits them, and the mirrors ride wide on a car this size. Both are included in full front.

Sills and door cups on a tall SUV

Passengers step on the sills to climb in, and the door cups get scratched by keys and rings. On a Range Rover those scratches show in deep paint. Both are the extended package.

Three packages

WHAT EACH PACKAGE COVERS ON THE RANGE ROVER

Partial Front

High-impact zones only · Half a day

Painted bumper, the first 18 inches of the hood, the leading edge of both fenders, and the mirror housings. The line crosses a hood this flat in plain view, so it is visible on anything but white.

  • Full front bumper
  • Leading 18" of the hood
  • Leading edge of both fenders
  • Side mirrors
Most chosen

Full Front

What most drivers choose · One day

The whole clamshell hood as one piece, both fenders, the bumper, mirrors, headlights, and A-pillars, with the hood edges wrapped under and the fender pieces tucked into the arches. Our recommendation for a Range Rover that commutes on I-495 or the Toll Road daily.

  • Full hood
  • Full front bumper
  • Both full fenders
  • Side mirrors
  • Headlights
  • A-pillars

Full Front Extended

Front end plus the wear areas · One to two days

Adds the rocker panels, door edges, and door cups on all four doors. The sills and cups are where a Range Rover shows wear first, and most owners add them.

  • Everything in Full Front
  • Rocker panels
  • Door edges and door cups
  • Door strips
  • A-pillars (halfway)

THE CLAMSHELL HOOD

The Range Rover hood extends down the sides to the fender vents, so the hood pattern is larger than on any other SUV we film and its edges land on the body lines at the sides rather than on top of the fenders. The pattern is cut for that shape so nothing is stretched or seamed.

SENSORS, CAMERAS, AND RADAR

The Range Rover carries parking sensors across the bumper, surround-view cameras in the grille and the mirrors, and the radar for the driver assists behind the grille. Every window is cut out of the pattern. Nothing is filmed over a lens, and the flush door handles are unaffected by the door pieces.

SPECIAL FINISHES AND CORRECTION

SV cars and the satin and two-tone finishes need a conversation first; gloss film goes over gloss paint, and satin finishes get a matching satin film. Every Range Rover is inspected and corrected before film so no dealer swirls are locked in.

By trim

RANGE ROVER TRIMS WE FILM

Range Rover SE / HSE

Standard front; full front is the usual job.

Range Rover Autobiography

Same body with more bright trim; full front extended is common.

Range Rover SV

Special finishes and bespoke colors; inspection first, then the right film.

Range Rover P550e / PHEV

Shares the body with the gas car; charge door on the rear quarter does not affect the front patterns.

Questions

RANGE ROVER PPF QUESTIONS

No. The parking sensors, the grille camera, the mirror cameras, and the radar all have their windows cut out of the pattern before the film reaches the car. Adaptive cruise, the surround view, and the parking aids behave the same after the install.
