NEW-CAR PPF FOR ROCKVILLE PIKE DELIVERIES
Rockville Pike is Maryland's dealer row, with franchise after franchise along Route 355 from Bethesda up through Rockville and Gaithersburg, covering nearly every brand sold in the region. The drive home from any of them is I-270, the Beltway, or the Pike itself, and all three are rough on new paint. I-270 is a truck route with lane work that never ends, I-495 crosses the American Legion Bridge in a cloud of concrete dust, and Route 355 is stop-and-go between construction sites in North Bethesda and Rockville Town Center. A car that waits a month to be filmed usually arrives with its first chips already in the bumper.
This page is for Maryland buyers picking up on the Pike this week who are willing to cross the river for a specialist install. Our shop is in Chantilly, VA, about 35 minutes by I-270 and I-495 to the Toll Road, and everything we do happens in that one bay. Below is how to time the install with your delivery date, how dealer protection add-ons differ from what we install, what to tell your salesperson, and what each STEK DYNOshield package covers. Because the car will be registered in Maryland, the tint rules that differ from Virginia's are addressed too.
From Rockville Pike, take I-270 south to I-495, cross the American Legion Bridge into Virginia, then follow the Toll Road or Route 7 west to Route 28 south and exit at Walney Road; outside rush hour it is about 35 minutes.
Why the front end
WHAT ROCKVILLE PIKE DEALERS DOES TO YOUR PAINT
I-270 and the Beltway
I-270 between Gaithersburg and the Beltway is a truck corridor with ongoing lane work, and the American Legion Bridge approaches have been a construction zone for years. The new car's bumper and hood edge catch all of it on the first trip home.
Route 355 through Rockville and Bethesda
The Pike is stop-and-go past high-rise construction in North Bethesda and Rockville, with crane trucks and concrete mixers pulling out of job sites into traffic. Grit on a crowded six-lane road finds the lower bumper and the mirrors.
Montgomery County garages
Parking in Bethesda, Rockville Town Square, and the Metro garages along the Red Line is tight and concrete. Door edges, door cups, and rocker panels pick up scuffs in the first year, which is why the extended package covers them.
Maryland winters and brine
The county sprays brine ahead of every storm, and salt finds its way into any chip in the clear coat and starts rust under the paint. Film on the front end means there are no chips for it to find, and a coating makes the winter film rinse off.
How it works for you
DROP-OFF, TIMING, AND PAYING
MAKING THE TRIP FROM MARYLAND
Plan a 9 AM drop at 4215 Walney Rd in Chantilly and a pickup before 6 PM for a full front. Most Pike customers take delivery one day and drive down the next morning against the Beltway rush. A film-and-coating install is two days, so pair it with a weekday off or a Friday and have someone handle one leg.
DELIVERY WEEK AND THE DEALER'S PACKAGE
The protection package offered on Rockville Pike is usually a sealant or a vendor-applied partial film bundled into the finance contract; ask what it is, who applies it, and what the warranty excludes before deciding. If you are bringing the car to us, tell the salesperson to skip it and to deliver the car hand-washed or unwashed. Send us the delivery date and we will hold a day that week.
DEPOSIT, BALANCE, AND SPLITTING IT UP
A fully refundable 20% deposit reserves your date and is credited at pickup. After you have walked every filmed panel under our lights, the balance is due, and Klarna, Afterpay, and Affirm are available for anyone who just signed a car loan and would rather spread this out.

Questions
ROCKVILLE PIKE DEALERS PPF QUESTIONS
For a car you plan to keep, we think so, and a steady stream of Bethesda, Rockville, and Potomac customers agrees. You get STEK DYNOshield with a 12-year manufacturer warranty, patterns computer-cut for your exact trim, wrapped edges, and an install in a dust-controlled bay. The round trip is about 70 minutes outside rush hour.
Ask the finance office before you sign; add-ons can be removed from the contract at that point, and after signing it depends on the dealer's policy. Either way we can still film the car. If a sealant was already applied, the decontamination wash and alcohol wipe strip it from the panels we film.
That you have a film appointment booked in Virginia, so no dealer-applied sealant or film, no brush wash before delivery, and leave the front plate bracket off so we can film the bumper first and mount the plate over the film. Maryland requires a front plate, so the bracket goes on at the end.
Film is the same in both states; there are no rules on it. Tint is where the law differs: Maryland allows 35% VLT on all windows of a passenger car, so if you add GeoShield ceramic tint on the same visit, we cut to Maryland's limit for a Maryland-registered car. It takes two to three hours alongside the film.
Not usually, because the drive is 35 minutes and most Pike deliveries happen in the afternoon. The normal plan is a 9 AM drop the next morning and a late-afternoon pickup. If your delivery appointment is first thing in the morning, mention it on the quote form and we will see what the schedule allows.
